Help Wanted: WAIA Office Assistant

For the Washington Area Intergroup Association Central Office


Summary:
The Office Assistant for the Washington Area Intergroup Association (WAIA) will be working in conjunction with the Office Manager to facilitate smooth operation of the office. WAIA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that maintains a Central Office to field calls for information about Alcoholics Anonymous, direct alcoholics to meetings, and provide services to A.A. groups. The office also sells A.A. literature, provides training for phone volunteers, and produces two publications, the Where & When and the New Reporter. The Office Assistant will provide administrative and basic bookkeeping support, have good "people skills," and keep detailed records of day-to-day sales of inventory in the Office.

Responsibilities:
- Data Management: enter group information, maintain up-to-date records, and record group contributions
- Responsible for handling public relations calls and e-mails in a professional manner, as well as being able to provide accurate information about Alcoholics Anonymous
- Responsible for training and assisting phone volunteers
- Maintain proper inventory and sale of literature and related items
- Answer phones and welcome visitors
- Maintain general cleanliness of the office and storage areas
- Make bank deposits
- Responsible for general administrative duties including, faxing, copying, and filing
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications (Required):
- Good attitude and great people skills
- Experience in e-mail, word processing, and data entry (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Basic bookkeeping (for processing Group donations)
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn


Qualifications (Desired):
- Familiarity with Alcoholics Anonymous
- Desktop publishing or page layout experience
- Basic website maintenance (HTML and FTP)
- Database maintenance (SQL Server Enterprise Manager)
